In my version Elena drinks Damon's blood because she can't keep down animal blood. They go around sneaking her drinking from Damon and hiding it from everyone, especially Stefan. The thing is sharing blood is very intimate. And what happens when Elena finds herself enjoying it? Elena and Damon aren't going to get together instantly I hate when fanfics do this.
